It can be really challenging when you have a very small room in the house when it comes to re-designing.
Our downstairs cloakroom is less than 2sqm and with the door originally opening inwards we didn’t have a huge amount of space to play around with.
To maximise what space we did have it made sense to change the opening of the door, opening outwards rather than inwards, often banging into the existing corner handbasin!
When it came to the actual design of the cloakroom, I wanted to keep it as clean (and clutter free) as possible and sourcing the new “compact” hand basin with integrated towel rail from Lusso Stone was the perfect solution.
As the standard dimensions of the Art Stone Resin Hand Basin were too big for this space, Lusso Stone were able to make the hand basin to our specific requirements, which was perfect.

Keeping the overall design relatively simple using a monochrome colour palette, we created a feature wall using white metro tiles in a herringbone pattern with contrast black grout (which our tiler wasn’t too happy about) and chose Ca’Pietra Navajo Charcoal Encaustic all supplied by Clay Interiors.

One of the benefits when working in a small room is that you don’t need so many floor tiles, so you can justify choosing something a little extra special (if budget allows)!
Just because you’re designing a small room, shouldn’t mean any less attention to detail should be spent on the overall aesthetics of the space.
