Incorporating wood into your home not only adds visual interest and texture but also creates a sense of connection to nature adding that feeling of tranquility and well-being.
Interior design trends can come and go, however some trends are timeless. For me, wood is one of those, offering countless ways to enhance our homes and create spaces that are both inviting and serene.
If you’d like to read the post I wrote back in January about Interior Design Trends for 2024, take a look here.
I love incorporating wood into my interior design projects and my own home. Recently I added a wood panelled feature wall in our bedroom, inspired by the one we installed in the lounge. This simple addition has completely transformed both spaces.
For this weeks blog, I’m focussing more on the visual, rather than the written content of embracing the beauty of wood in our homes, sharing some beautifully inspirational images, which I hope you’ll love too.

This fabulous space is the Heatherhill Beach House located in Denmark, designed by Norm Architects.
Inside, the emphasis on wood being the primary material of choice is clearly evident; from the wooden floors to walls and ceiling, removing the boundaries between the indoors and out.
Wooden architecture creates understated expressions of timeless beauty.

Another stunning image taken from the Heatherhill Beach House project. I love how a slatted room divider has been thoughtfully incorporated to separate the sleeping area and living space.

From the opposite side of the bedroom, this image highlights the thoughtfully considered design aesthetic of the Heatherhill Beach House. The beautiful slatted wardrobe doors add textural interest, breaking up the use of wood and seamlessly linking with the room divider mentioned above.

This gorgeous dining room space cleverly combines varying tones and different pieces of wood.
The slatted panelled backdrop effectively emphasises the dining area, distinguishing it from the rest of the space.
Combining the richer, darker wooden furniture in the foreground contrasts beautifully with the warmer honey-toned wood chosen for the dining table and chairs, adding a new dimension to the space without being too overwhelming; the wooden light pendant, is also the perfect finishing touch.

This incredible project by Oza Sabbeth Architects is situated on the tip of Long Island, New York.
The use of natural timber, known for its positive effect on wellness, is evident throughout the property, from exposed beams and plywood ceilings to wooden columns.
I’ve focussed on the kitchen, as I love how the vaulted plywood ceiling works effectively alongside the beautifully crafted kitchen units; however if you’d like to explore more of this gorgeous home, do check out this link.

While scrolling the internet for this weeks post, I came across this fabulous image of the Sling Lounge Chair by Takt.
When it comes to choosing furniture and accessorising your home, I always look for products that serve a dual-purpose; something that is both aesthetically pleasing and functional. I always say, why should we not have beautiful (yet functional) pieces of art, in the form of sculpture, that we use as furniture?
Comfort is a priority. It is a chair to sink into.
The Sling Lounge Chair is not only a beautiful piece of craftsmanship that would look fabulous in the most prestigious modern homes, but it’s angled seating position also makes it completely practical!

Another kitchen design, I completely fell in love with. The simplicity of using just one material in a single colour is so effective. The addition of curved edges and fluted panelling to the side enhances the overall aesthetic beautifully.

For my last image, it’s slightly different from the previous ones I’ve shared. This image is less about design aesthetics and more about showcasing the overall beauty of wood and how well different tones work together.
The richness of Black American Walnut alongside the warmth of Oak complements each other beautifully. If you are inspired by any of the images I’ve shared, you might feel more confident mixing and matching different wood types in the same room, rather than playing it safe and using the same tone throughout.
