How we created our own luxury hotel bathroom at home

A visual collection of our bathroom transformation.

Proud doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel about our spa-inspired, luxury hotel bathroom; a dream we’ve brought to life in our own home.

For those who have been following The Bathroom Diaries series, you’ll already be familiar with the highs and lows of this renovation journey since it began back in October.

For anyone new to The Stylish Home, to bring you up to speed, back in October, we began our first-ever renovation project, transforming our existing bathroom into the dream space I’ve longed for, over many years, complete with an extension over the garage.

Although the project itself only took 13 weeks of active work (based on when we had trades on-site) various dramas along the way pushed it out to nearly six months before I could finally reveal the final results.

This weeks blog is more visual, rather than written, as I wanted to share a visual collection of our bathroom transformation.

After of the exact same space in the bathroom

Over 15 years I’ve waited for my dream bathroom, and it’s turned out exactly as I’d visualised.

The image on the left features our (very) dated bathroom, while on the right, you can see the incredible transformation, with the wall knocked through to create the new extension.

The wall to the right, now showcasing the beautiful artwork by Martha Hutt, is part of the original layout; it’s where the over-the-head-shower was originally located.

It still amazes me how far we’ve come in turning this space into my dream bathroom; a spa-inspired retreat which exceeds everything I imagined!

Choosing a single favourite addition to the bathroom feels almost impossible because I love every detail. However, the free-standing bath stands out as a clear winner.

It’s the perfect space to unwind in on a Sunday afternoon, especially with the beautifully hand-crafted bath tidy, ideal for propping up a book and holding a glass of wine.

Second to that has to be the walk-in shower enclosure. As a self-confessed shower lover, having the luxury of a walk-in shower, has been an absolute game-changer.

I would also highly recommend incorporating a bathroom niche for your bottle dispensers. Not only does it elevate the aesthetic of the space, but it also keeps everything perfectly tidy and within easy reach.

fluted vanity unit in white

This vanity unit is ideal for storing all your toiletries, thanks to its super deep pull-out drawer. The fluted front adds an elegant touch, perfectly complementing the feature tiles and tying the whole design together.

Another favourite finishing touch is the Cortese® Stone Composite basin with its matt finish, which exudes luxury and offers a silky-soft texture.

This last image captures the original bathroom in all its glory and the remarkable transformation it has undergone.

The area where the original bath once stood now features a sleek wall-hung toilet, while the space that previously housed the toilet and basin has been transformed with a super wide vanity unit.

To think I lived with this bathroom for over 15 years! Seeing the end results of our new spa-inspired, luxury hotel bathroom makes every moment of waiting; and every challenge; absolutely worthwhile!

What makes it even better is that it turned out exactly as I’d visualised when I created the initial mood board more than two years ago.
